Ornamental Tree and Shrub Pruning
The proper training and maintenance of woody plant material is essential to get the most pleasure from your investment. Pruning will ensure that trees develop a sound structure and will minimize damage from excess ice and snow load. Shrubs can vary substantially in shape and type depending function in the landscape. Some may need only an occasional thinning to get rid of dead and duplicate growth. Others may need annual shearing to keep a desired form. In all of these cases annual pruning is the preferred interval as this allows the work to be done in a minimum amount of time saving you money in the long run. Pruning of your ornamental trees and shrub s keeps your property looking its best as well as allowing ArborLawn to find a disease or insect problem before it gets out of hand.
WINTER PRUNING
ArborLawn recommends pruning of most shade trees, major renovation on shrubs, and some ornamentals at this time of the year. Our arborist will do a site visit to make recommendations, and will leave a detailed proposal with our recommendations and pricing.
SUMMER PRUNING
Some trees and many flowering shrubs set the following years flower buds on old previous year’s growth only. In this case, the proper time to prune is right after the trees or shrubs flowers drop after bloom. With this pruning, the new growth carries the next year’s flower buds. Shrubs that are to be formally shaped need to be pruned after the majority of the season’s new growth has occurred allowing them to maintain the pruned formal look for as long as possible. Our arborist will do a site visit to make recommendations, and will leave a detailed proposal with our recommendations and pricing.
