Frequently Asked Questions

When do I have to apply pre-emergent to control crabgrass?

Crabgrass is an annual grass that grows from seed every spring. It is best controlled prior to the seed germinating. Crabgrass seed germinates when the soil temperature reaches approximately 55 degrees. This occurs typically in mid-May.

I have moles in my yard. Can you control my grubs?

The presence of moles in your yard does not necessarily mean there are grubs present. The main food source for moles is earth worms which are found in any yard. If you are having problems with grubs, ArborLawn would be happy to review the damage and propose a solution.

Do I need to water my lawn after my application?

Weekly lawn watering will produce healthy grass. Some of ArborLawn’s applications require watering for the application to be effective. If the information left at your door following your application by ArborLawn instructs you to water, you agree to do so.

How long do I have to wait before I can use on my lawn after an application?

Once the product completely dries on your lawn it is very hard to dislodge from the leaf surface. Drying time is based exclusively on the weather. On a warm dry day this can occur very quickly. On cool humid days this can take many hours.

It rained after my application. Will I still get weed control?

The product we use for weed control needs to dry as little as two hours under the right conditions to be affective. If it rains after your application and the weeds do not die ArborLawn will return at No Charge and reapply.

Does ArborLawn phone solicit their customers to sell more services?

ArborLawn does not practice continual up selling. We will only make recommendations that are truly needed to prevent damage or improve your landscape.

Do I need to spray all my landscape plants to protect them against insects or disease?

Because a blanket treatment of all landscape material will kill more beneficial insects than harmful, ArborLawn applies applications that target specific insects or diseases. This protects the delicate balance of the beneficial insects that prey on the harmful ones.

How long after an application before I can mow my yard?

We strongly recommend waiting 24 hours before mowing. This allows the maximum leaf surface for the product to be absorbed into the plant.

Can I overseed my lawn after my application?

Our first application contains a pre-emergent to control crabgrass. It will also prevent the desirable grasses from growing. When possible, ArborLawn recommends overseeding in the fall. This allows greater time for the plants to mature before the hot, dry weather of summer sets in.
